Review of Hare and Tortoise Race to the Moon
Here's a great book for teaching young children! Before you even begin reading, there's teaching opportunities! First, Aesop's stories aren't Aesop's. Nor are they originally Greek. They're mostly old Indian stories that came from West Asia before that. Great chance to talk about stealing (taking credit for other's works) and cultural appropriation (why does Aesop still get credit?). Then, when you start reading, there's provocations to discuss teasing, poverty, and positive competition. It even ends with factoid from science--you can jump 6x higher on the moon. So many great points for discussion and all in one book! It's certainly one of my favorites!
